Three parts of one home
The department splits in three: lighting (bulbs, luminaires and decorative lighting), smart home (sensors, relays, hubs, smart locks and doorbells) and climate (heaters, air purifiers, humidifiers and dehumidifiers).
Where to start
- Light. The cheapest, most visible step: a smart bulb in a fixture you already own, then an LED strip behind the TV.
- Control. Hubs and sensors tie devices into scenes: a motion sensor turns on dim hallway light at night.
- Security. A smart lock or video doorbell shows on your phone who came by.
- Air. The heating season calls for a humidifier, pollen season for an air purifier, a cold room for a heater.
FAQ
Do smart devices need a hub? Wi-Fi devices work directly on your home network. ZigBee and Matter need a bridge but respond faster and put less load on the router.
How powerful a heater do I need? Rule of thumb: ~100 W per square metre — a 15 m² room needs roughly a 1500 W heater.
