How to choose a gamepad
- Platform. An officially licensed pad works with its console out of the box; universal models often cover PC too.
- Wired or wireless. A cable means zero latency and no battery to charge; wireless means freedom on the couch.
- Extra buttons. Remappable rear paddles are a real advantage in competitive games.
- Hall-effect sticks. Magnetic sensors do not wear out, so they never develop stick drift.
- Battery. Check capacity and whether it charges over USB-C.
