When to change the filter
An air purifier filter lasts up to 12 months, a humidifier cartridge 3–6 months. If the unit has become louder, the room smells stale when you walk in or the app shows a filter warning, it is time for a new one. A clogged filter makes the appliance draw more power and clean less.
Filter types
- HEPA filter traps dust, pollen and pet hair — the part that matters most for allergy sufferers.
- Carbon filter binds odours, smoke and volatile compounds such as formaldehyde and benzene.
- Humidifying filter (cartridge) evaporates the water and keeps limescale out of the appliance.
- Filter kit contains the housing plus several capsules — a convenient year's supply.
Finding the right filter
Check the model number of your appliance (for example Xiaomi Smart Air Purifier 4 Pro or Philips AC2729) and look for the filter with the same name. The filter code is in the product title — Philips codes start with FY, Duux with DXHUC. The appliances themselves are in air purifiers and humidifiers.
FAQ
Can a HEPA filter be washed? No. Water destroys its filtering ability — only the pre-filter may be rinsed, the HEPA is replaced.
Will another brand's filter fit? No, the shape and size are model-specific. Always buy the filter made for your appliance.
