The Apple Watch display is curved
Apple's watch glass rounds off at the edge, and the edge is what gets scratched first — against a door handle or the corner of a desk. Hence two approaches.
- Flat tempered glass covers the centre and leaves the rounded edge exposed — smooth under the finger and easy to fit.
- Film follows the curve and covers the edge too; softer, but less resistant to scratches.
- A case with built-in glass takes the impact off the edge entirely — look for it under smartwatch accessories.
Choose by size
Protectors are cut to the case: 40, 41, 44, 45 or 49 mm. You will find the size in the Watch app (My Watch → General → About) or on the case back. Ultra is the only 49 mm model and its protector does not fit the others.

Frequently asked questions
Does a protector affect the touchscreen? No, a correctly fitted protector does not change screen sensitivity.
Does a Series 7 protector fit a Series 8? It does when the case size matches — a 41 mm protector covers both.
Does Ultra need its own protector? Yes, the Ultra case is 49 mm and protectors for other models will not sit on it.
