How to choose a straightener

Type. An iron gives the sleekest finish, a straightening brush suits quick everyday styling, an air straightener dries and straightens in one device.
Maximum temperature. Fine hair needs 160–180 °C; thick or curly hair calls for models up to 230 °C.
Heat settings. Several steps let you match the heat to your hair type; a single-setting model is simply cheaper.
Ionic function and ceramic plates. Reduce static and glide more gently through the hair.
