Laptops with a Nordic keyboard

The keyboard is chosen at purchase

A desktop keyboard can be replaced whenever you like; a laptop one cannot, because it is built into the chassis and only a service centre swaps it. So the layout is decided when you buy. Nordic is the version that arrives most often in the business series sold in the Baltics: there are around ninety of them on this page, mostly Lenovo ThinkPad and ThinkBook models.

• One key set for four countries. Nordic covers Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden. Å sits next to Enter, Ä and Ö come in a different order than on an Estonian board.
• Estonian still types. Pick the Estonian layout in the Windows language settings and every accented letter lands correctly.
• Screen. Half the models are 14-inch and a third 16-inch; the rest are 13- and 15-inch machines.
• These are mostly work machines. Two thirds run Windows 11 Pro and sixty have integrated graphics.

What is in stock

From Lenovo there are the ThinkPad T, E and L series and the ThinkBook; from Apple the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro with a Swedish keyboard; from Dell the Pro series. Memory is usually 16 GB, every fourth machine has 32 GB, and the drive is most often 512 GB.

If you need Estonian letters on the caps

Two routes. The first is a laptop with an Estonian keyboard. The second is to pair a Nordic laptop with an Estonian layout keyboard and a docking station. By screen size pick 14-inch or 16-inch, and the whole shelf is under laptops.

Frequently asked questions

Can a laptop keyboard be changed later? Technically it is a service job: the keyboard is a spare part and the swap costs more than an external keyboard.

Can I write Estonian on a Nordic key set? Yes, by enabling the Estonian layout in the system.

How does Nordic differ from an Estonian keyboard? The ISO shape is identical. Nordic puts Å next to Enter and moves Ä and Ö elsewhere; an Estonian board has Ü, Õ, Ö and Ä there.
