How to choose a radio or music system

Start with the room: a bedside table, the kitchen, a building site or a living room that needs a main music source.

Type. A clock radio wakes you up, a portable radio travels with you, a music system plays CDs and fills a room.
DAB+ or FM. DAB+ gives clean digital sound and station names on screen; FM works everywhere, including weak-signal areas.
Bluetooth. Lets you stream from a phone — not included on every budget model.
Media. CD, USB stick, cassette or vinyl — check what you actually listen to.
Power. Mains is easier at home; battery power matters outdoors, on trips and as a backup.
