How to choose a dishwasher
- Width. 60 cm holds 12–15 place settings for a family; 45 cm suits a couple or a small kitchen.
- Installation. Freestanding models are easy to move, integrated ones hide behind a cabinet door.
- Noise. Below 46 dB is barely audible in an open-plan kitchen — worth it if it runs in the evening.
- Water use. Efficient models use 9–10 litres per cycle, far less than washing by hand.
- Programmes. A 30-minute quick wash, a long economical eco cycle and an intensive one for greasy pans.
