15-inch laptops

15.3 or 15.6 inches

Two close sizes live here: the classic 15.6-inch (32 models) and the newer 15.3-inch (16 models), which fits a taller screen into the same body width. Both go into the same bags and stands; the difference is the screen shape and the bezel.

• Weight. 1.6–2.3 kg, typically 1.7 kg. The body is bigger than a 14-inch one, yet most stay under two kilos.
• Battery. 42–80 Wh, and the spread is wide: cheaper home models carry a smaller pack and will not see out a working day unplugged.
• Panel. IPS on 17 models, OLED on 14, but 8 use WVA or TN with poorer viewing angles. That is worth checking in the specs.
• Memory. 16 GB on 35 models, but 8 ship with only 8 GB — today's floor, and already tight in a browser.
• Storage. 512 GB on 30 models, 1 TB on 18.

The home and study machine

Windows 11 Home is on 37 models and Pro on 11, which makes this the most domestic size group: a big screen, a numeric keypad and a moderate price. Some carry GeForce RTX graphics, so the lighter gaming machines sit here too.

Neighbouring sizes

Lighter, with more business models: 14-inch laptops. More surface and better cooling: 16-inch laptops. The full range is on the laptops page, and a laptop sleeve keeps it safe.

Frequently asked questions

Is 8 GB of memory still enough? For a browser, Office and video it works, but with ten tabs and Teams open the machine starts swapping to disk. If the choice is open, take 16 GB.

What is the difference between 15.3 and 15.6 inches? The diagonal and the aspect ratio. A 15.3-inch screen is usually taller, so a document shows more lines; 15.6 is wider, which suits film better.

Should I avoid WVA and TN panels? If you look at the screen straight on and price matters, they do the job. From an angle the colour and contrast shift, so watching a film with someone is clearly better on IPS or OLED.
