When 24 inches is exactly right

This is the baseline work monitor: Full HD looks sharp at 24 inches with no scaling, and for two screens side by side it is the only size that actually fits an ordinary desk.

• Resolution. Full HD (1920 × 1080) is both the norm and the right choice here — QHD at 24 inches makes text so small that Windows scaling becomes mandatory.
• Panel. IPS gives even colour and good angles; avoid VA if the monitor sits off to one side.
• Refresh rate. 100 Hz is common on new models and barely affects price — the cursor moves noticeably more smoothly than at 60 Hz.
• USB-C. One cable to the laptop: picture, network and charging at once. Without that input, see docking stations.
• Stand and VESA. Height adjustment matters more than panel type; if the stand lacks it, add a monitor mount.

Bigger or wider
