Who 32 inches is for
32 inches is where 4K starts to pay off: pixel density reaches the point where Windows scaling is unnecessary, and the working area is roughly double a 24-inch Full HD screen.
- Resolution. 4K is preferable here. QHD at 32 inches costs less, but pixels show if the monitor sits within arm's reach.
- Distance. Desk depth of at least 70–80 cm; at half a metre you end up turning your head rather than moving your eyes.
- Curve. 1500R and 1000R make sense at this size — a flat 32-inch VA panel tends to dim towards the corners.
- Stand. Weight is 7–11 kg: if you want height adjustment, check the stand or see monitor mounts rated for 12 kg or more.
32 or ultrawide
An ultrawide monitor offers similar width but less height — 32 inches suits spreadsheets, ultrawide suits films and several windows side by side. One size down: 27 inches. Full range: monitors.
Graphics card
4K at 60 Hz for office work runs on integrated graphics, but 4K gaming needs a serious card. For games, look at gaming monitors at QHD instead.
Frequently asked questions
Can a 32-inch monitor replace a TV? It can if it has speakers and HDMI, but there is no remote or tuner — for that see 32-inch TVs.
Is 32 inches too big for work? Not at 70 cm or more. Closer than that and your eyes travel too far.
Does 4K need a new cable? HDMI 2.0 or DisplayPort 1.2 covers 60 Hz; 120 Hz needs HDMI 2.1 or DP 1.4.
