When a backpack is the right pick
A backpack is the only option that does not tire one shoulder: carry a machine daily, by bike or by train, and 2–3 kg spread evenly. The same body doubles as a school and travel bag.
- Laptop compartment. A separate padded pocket rather than one big cavity — look for a 15.6″ or 17.3″ marking and padding at the base.
- Volume. 15–20 litres is an everyday city size; 25–30 litres also takes clothes and lunch.
- Back panel and straps. Air channels and wide padded straps start to matter after half an hour of walking.
- Anti-theft. Hidden zips and a back-facing pocket keep a wallet safe on public transport.
- Rain. Polyester handles drizzle; an included rain cover is a bonus.
If a backpack does not suit you
For the office and meetings, shoulder bags and briefcases look better. If the machine already travels inside another bag, a slim sleeve is enough.
