Ultra, Series or SE
Apple's watches differ in case, screen and battery — the software is the same across the line.
- Ultra. A 49 mm titanium case, the brightest screen and the longest battery. Built for hiking, diving and long training sessions; on the wrist it is clearly the largest model.
- Series. Aluminium or titanium in two sizes, thinner than Ultra and fine on a smaller wrist.
- SE. The same experience for less: aluminium case, simpler screen, the same notifications and workout apps.
What the watch needs
- iPhone only. An Apple Watch cannot be paired with Android — check this first.
- GPS or Cellular. The Cellular model works without the phone but needs an eSIM from your carrier.
- Case size. From 40 mm to 49 mm. The S/M or M/L band size follows your wrist, not the case.
- Charging. Apple Watch uses its own magnetic charger — a phone cable will not charge it.
Bands, glass and cases
The band choice here is the largest on the shelf: Apple Watch bands, including leather, nylon and metal. The screen is covered by a protector. Other makers are on the smartwatches page.
Frequently asked questions
Does Apple Watch work with Android? No. The watch can only be set up and used with an iPhone.
What is the difference between GPS and Cellular? Cellular has an eSIM, so calls and messages work with the phone left at home. The GPS model needs the phone nearby.
How do I choose between 42 and 46 mm? The larger case means a larger screen and slightly longer battery; the smaller one sits better on a slim wrist. Band length is unaffected.
Will my old band fit a new watch? Yes, within its size group: 38/40/41/42 mm bands together, and 44/45/46/49 mm bands together.
