Steel, titanium and two fastenings
- Link bracelet. The classic watch bracelet — the heaviest option, sized by removing links.
- Milanese mesh. A fine weave with a magnetic clasp: it slides to fit with no tools at all.
- Titanium. As strong as steel but noticeably lighter — the answer if a metal band feels heavy.
When metal is right
A metal band shrugs off sweat and water and does not wear out the way leather does — it is bought once. In exchange the watch weighs more, and in training a link bracelet slides around the wrist. Check the case colour too: silver steel on a grey case reads differently from black titanium.
Fit
There are two size groups — 38/40/41/42 mm and 44/45/46/49 mm. A link bracelet usually arrives long and is shortened to your wrist. The group logic is on the Apple Watch bands page; lighter options are nylon and leather.
Frequently asked questions
Can I train with a metal band? You can, but a link bracelet slides on a sweaty wrist; nylon or silicone is more comfortable for sport.
How do I shorten the bracelet? Links come out one at a time; on most models this needs no tool, otherwise a watchmaker can do it.
What is the difference between steel and titanium? Strength is similar; titanium is lighter and dearer, and the difference is obvious on the wrist.
