Epson ink cartridges and bottles

What Epson ink is here

The range covers three very different machines: the office WorkForce (44 products), large-format SureColor (11) and the older Stylus Pro (7). The same list holds both cartridges that click into a carriage and bottles that pour into a tank.

• Volume. 95 products state it. The most common are 350 ml (27 products) and 700 ml (23), which belong in large-format machines; a desktop printer bottle is 70–140 ml.
• Yield. Where it is measured in pages, the median is 1 900 pages, and the largest run to 50 000.
• Colours. Beyond the four basics, SureColor machines also take violet, green, orange, grey and white ink.
• Product code. Epson writes it two ways – short as 106 and long as C13T00R140. Search finds either.

Finding the right cartridge

The surest route is the code on the side of the old cartridge. Without it, take the printer model and match it against the Compatible with field on the product page, which carries Epson's own list of machines. Cartridge and bottle are easy to confuse: an EcoTank machine wants a bottle, WorkForce and Expression want a cartridge.

What else runs out in the same printer

An inkjet also consumes a maintenance box, which collects the ink spent on cleaning cycles; the printer says when it is full. For another maker's ink see Brother cartridges, and the whole range is on the ink and toner page. A new machine needs printers and paper.

Frequently asked questions

How do I know whether my printer needs a cartridge or a bottle? EcoTank and ET-badged models use bottles, WorkForce and Expression use cartridges. The model is printed on the lid.

What does XL mean in the name? The very same cartridge with more ink in it: the slot and the printer are unchanged, you simply get more pages per swap.

Is the maintenance box a kind of ink cartridge? No. It is a separate part that collects ink used during cleaning – the Epson boxes are here.
