A Huawei watch protector is cut for a specific model, and one series comes in two sizes — GT 3, for instance, in 42 and 46 mm. Check the name and diameter in the Huawei Health app; a millimetre off leaves the edge bare.

• The WATCH GT series. The widest choice: GT 2, GT 3, GT 5 and GT 5 Pro, in both glass and film.
• Watch 3 and 4 Pro. A narrower selection for the flagships, but it exists.
• Watch Fit and Band. A rectangular screen needs its own size — glass for a round watch will not fit.

Glass, film, or two in the box

Tempered glass is stiffer and smoother under the finger; film is flexible and covers a curved edge. Some products come in twos — the first fitting rarely goes perfectly and a spare costs very little.

Does a GT 3 protector fit a GT 5? No. The case and the screen curvature differ, so take one for your own series.

Glass or film? Glass for a flat screen, film for a curved edge — rigid glass lifts at the corners on a domed display.

Does a protector interfere with gestures? Fitted correctly, no; a trapped bubble can confuse touch, so apply it to a clean screen.
