How to choose computer speakers
Computer speakers turn the thin sound of a laptop or monitor into something fit for games, films and music. Our range is compact, but it covers three needs: a USB set for an office desk, a 2.1 system for a gamer, and a 5.1 set for cinema behind the computer.
- Configuration. 2.1 means two satellites and a separate subwoofer — the bass comes from under the desk, the satellites take little space. 5.1 adds a centre channel and two rear satellites, which need a spot behind you.
- Power (RMS). Look at RMS watts, not the “peak” figure. 15–20 W RMS is enough at a desk, 60–120 W fills a room. Use the RMS filter on the left.
- Connection. A 3.5 mm jack works with every computer and monitor, USB carries power and audio in one cable, Bluetooth is handy for music from a phone — check the inputs on the product page.
- Power supply. A USB-powered set needs no wall socket and suits a laptop; the more powerful 2.1 and 5.1 systems run on mains power.
- Controls and lighting. A volume knob on a satellite or the cable saves mouse clicks; RGB matches the keyboard and mouse on a gaming desk, but it does not improve the sound.
Computer speakers in our range
Most of the shelf is 2.1 speaker systems with a subwoofer: Logitech Z407, Z625 and the RGB-lit gaming set G560, Trust Tytan, GXT 629 Tytan RGB and the 120 W GXT38. The cheapest and simplest option is the USB-powered set Trust Avora 2.1 (18 W) with no separate power brick. For surround sound there is the Logitech Z906 5.1 — six speakers and a cinema feel behind the computer. Plain 2.0 stereo pairs live under Hi-Fi speakers.
Brands
Logitech is the desktop-speaker classic: the Z series is known for balanced sound and durability, the G560 is built for gamers, and the Z906 is the only 5.1 system in the range. Trust offers the same configurations for less money — Tytan and GXT38 deliver 120 W of bass, Avora is the cheapest way to improve laptop audio.

Frequently asked questions
2.1 or 5.1? For gaming and music at a desk, a 2.1 set is enough. 5.1 is worth it when you watch films from the computer and can actually place the rear speakers behind you.
How do I connect speakers to a monitor? If the picture arrives over HDMI or DisplayPort, the monitor usually has a 3.5 mm output — plug the speakers in there. That way they also work with a games console.
Does the subwoofer have to sit on the floor? Yes — on the floor under the desk the bass is more even and the desk does not vibrate.
How are the speakers delivered? Smaller sets fit a parcel locker (Omniva, DPD, Venipak, 1–2 working days); a large 5.1 system comes by courier.
