Description

Hybrid illumination for dark spots

HL stands for hybrid illumination, which Ajax added specifically for dark locations, with IR LEDs at the core of the illuminator. In black-and-white night mode, visibility reaches up to 50 m according to Ajax, further than the 35 m of the standard BulletCam in the same housing. An F1.6 aperture and a minimum illumination of 0.005 lux mean the camera can still produce an image in weak light without any extra lighting.

TrueWDR against strong backlight

TrueWDR, or true wide dynamic range, balances scenes with bright sun, a window or headlights on one side and deep shadow on the other. That way both the face of a person at the gate and what is happening in the background stay visible. The 1/2.8″ CMOS sensor delivers 5 MP at 2880 × 1620, which leaves room to zoom into smaller details in recorded footage later on.

A wide view to cover the whole area

The 2.8 mm lens covers 110° horizontally, 58° vertically and 131° diagonally. The whole front of a house, a driveway or a storage yard fits into the frame, so fewer cameras are needed. A short focal length gives a broad overview in which nearby people are clearly visible, while objects further away appear smaller.

Flexible power: PoE or 12 V

The simplest setup is a single network cable to a PoE switch or NVR, carrying both power and data. Where PoE is not available, you can use a 12 V power adapter and a regular network connection through the RJ-45 port. This is handy when extending an existing system that has no free PoE ports left. The camera weighs 550 g and measures 198 × 76 × 76 mm.

A tough housing for outdoors and indoors

Ajax designed the camera for both outdoor and indoor installation. IP65 means it is dust-tight and resists water jets, and IK08 adds protection against impacts. It operates from −30 to +60 °C. The camera has a microSD slot and a built-in microphone that records sound along with the video, which adds useful context to events.

Who this IP camera is for

Homeowners who want to watch the yard and driveway after dark; businesses with poorly lit outdoor areas that need longer night-time visibility; Ajax system users who need more night range than the standard BulletCam offers; and installers who want the choice between PoE and 12 V power.

Questions & answers

How does the HL differ from the standard BulletCam?

The HL version has hybrid illumination, black-and-white night vision up to 50 m (the standard 2.8 mm BulletCam has 35 m IR), TrueWDR, IK08 impact protection and power over either PoE or 12 V.

Can the camera be used outdoors?

Yes, Ajax designed it for outdoor and indoor use; it is rated IP65 and operates from −30 to +60 °C.

Do I need PoE?

Not necessarily. The camera can be powered over PoE or from a 12 V adapter.

What size of memory card can I fit?

The camera has a microSD slot, but the manufacturer does not specify the maximum card capacity.
