The 14-inch MacBook Pro is smaller than the 16-inch model, which makes it easier to carry every day to lectures, the office or client meetings. The diagonal is 14″; the manufacturer does not specify the resolution or other display details for this configuration. The chassis is silver, and the compact format also helps on a crowded desk.
In this configuration the M5 Pro CPU has 15 cores. That lets you do several things at once: compiling code, editing photos, working on large spreadsheets and running several apps do not have to wait for each other. If you compile very large projects every day, the 18-core M5 Pro variant has three more cores.
The graphics are part of the M5 Pro chip and have 16 cores. GPU cores speed up photo editing, video editing and export, effects in design apps and machine learning tasks. For heavier 3D rendering there are 14-inch models with the 20-core M5 Pro GPU and the 32-core M5 Max GPU.
Unified memory is shared by the CPU and GPU: both use the same 24 GB and there is no separate video memory. That lets you keep several apps open and process large photos and videos. The 2 TB SSD is a major advantage of this configuration: your entire photo and video archive fits on the laptop, so an external drive is not needed every day.
The keyboard has a Swedish (SWE) layout with Å, Ä and Ö printed on the keys. For Estonian, Ä and Ö are already in place, while Õ and Ü are typed through the Estonian layout in macOS. The manufacturer does not list backlighting, ports or wireless specifications for this configuration.
Students and early-career creatives who need a compact, capable machine; photographers for whom 2 TB of SSD space matters; developers whose projects do not need 18 CPU cores; and Estonian writers who are happy with a Swedish layout with Ä and Ö keys.
