The 16.2-inch display has a resolution of 3456 × 2234 pixels. A photographer sees the image large alongside the adjustment panels, and an editor keeps the timeline and preview next to each other. The high resolution keeps labels and icons crisp, so small text stays easy to read even at the end of a long working day.

In this configuration the M5 Max GPU has 32 cores. GPU cores calculate in parallel and speed up video encoding and effects, 3D rendering and machine learning tasks. That is clearly more than the 16 or 20 cores of the M5 Pro models, which makes this machine a good fit for jobs where graphics are the bottleneck.

There are 18 CPU cores, the same number as in the M5 Max variant with the 40-core GPU. The difference between the two lies in graphics and memory, not in CPU core count. Many cores let you export video, keep several apps open and run a backup in the background at the same time.

Unified memory is shared by the CPU and GPU, so both draw on the same 36 GB as needed. That lets you run several professional apps side by side, edit high-resolution video and process large photo libraries. The 2 TB SSD has room for the system and several large projects.

The backlit keyboard uses a Swedish (SWE) layout with Å, Ä and Ö printed on the keys. For Estonian, Ä and Ö are therefore already in place, while Õ and Ü are typed through the Estonian layout in macOS. Wireless support covers Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) and Bluetooth 6.0, and a 1080p FaceTime HD camera handles video calls.
