A 16.2-inch diagonal and 3456 × 2234 pixels let you keep, for example, a photo editor with its panels, a browser and documentation, or several large spreadsheets side by side. The pixel density is high enough that individual dots are invisible to the eye: fonts look smooth and photos stay detailed even up close.

The graphics processor is built right into the M5 Max chip and has 40 cores. GPU cores work in parallel, so a higher count means faster video rendering, smoother 3D viewports and quicker effects, and it also suits machine learning tasks. Among the M5 Max configurations, the 40-core GPU is the higher-performance option.

The M5 Max CPU has 18 cores. A high core count pays off when work splits into many parts: compiling code, mixing audio projects, compressing files or running virtual machines. An export can run in the background while you keep working calmly in the foreground.

Unified memory means the CPU and GPU use the same pool and do not copy data from one memory to another. When needed, the GPU can use a large share of the 48 GB, which helps with big textures, long video projects and AI models. The 2 TB SSD keeps active projects and media libraries close at hand.

The keyboard is backlit and has an international English (INT) layout. Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be) is the newest Wi-Fi standard and still works with older routers, while Bluetooth 6.0 connects headphones, a mouse and other accessories. For video calls there is a 1080p FaceTime HD camera.
