Description

QD-OLED: every pixel lights itself

An OLED panel has no backlight: each pixel emits its own light and switches off completely in black areas. That is where the quoted 1,500,000:1 contrast comes from, and why black is genuinely black rather than dark grey. QD-OLED adds vivid colour, with 99% DCI-P3 and 135% sRGB coverage and 1.073 billion colours. As a result the monitor works for photo and video editing as well as for gaming.

360 Hz and 0.03 ms for fast shooters

A refresh rate of up to 360 Hz and a 0.03 ms gray-to-gray response time mean crosshairs and opponents move smoothly and without blur. G-SYNC Compatible and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro synchronise frames with the graphics card across a 48–360 Hz range, so the picture does not tear. OLED Anti-flicker, with three settings, reduces flicker when the frame rate fluctuates, and players used to smaller screens can switch to a 24.5-inch or 4:3 image.

Cooling and OLED Care+ for a longer panel life

The main concern with OLED is burn-in when the same image stays on screen for a long time. The XG27ACDNG has a custom passive heatsink and vents along the top of the rear cover that keep the panel cooler. ASUS OLED Care+ software offers a set of protection functions, adjustable with the mouse through DisplayWidget Center instead of the on-screen menu. Uniform Brightness keeps brightness consistent even when large white windows change size.

Ports for a PC, a console and a laptop

A gaming PC connects over DisplayPort 1.4 with DSC compression, while consoles and other devices use the two HDMI 2.1 ports with HDCP 2.2 support. The USB-C port supports DisplayPort Alt Mode and supplies up to 90 W, so a laptop gets picture and charging through one cable. A built-in USB 3.2 Gen 1 hub adds three USB-A ports for peripherals. There are no speakers; audio goes out through a 3.5 mm headphone jack.

A stand that adjusts in every direction

The stand tilts 20° back and 5° forward, swivels 45° each way, pivots the screen 90° into portrait and offers 120 mm of height adjustment. The small base leaves more room for keyboard and mouse and has a groove to prop up a phone, and a tripod socket on top of the monitor takes a streaming camera. It weighs 7.44 kg with the stand and 4.97 kg without, and the VESA 100 × 100 mm pattern lets you put it on an arm.

Who this gaming monitor is for

Competitive shooter players who need 360 Hz and a 0.03 ms response time; gamers who want the deep blacks and vivid colours of OLED; streamers who will use the tripod socket and the compact base; and photographers and video editors who use one screen for both work and play and value 99% DCI-P3 coverage.

Questions & answers

Can the OLED screen suffer burn-in?

The risk exists with OLED technology. The manufacturer reduces it with a passive heatsink, vents and ASUS OLED Care+ functions, but it is not ruled out entirely, so avoid leaving static elements on screen for long periods.

Does the USB-C port charge a laptop?

Yes, the monitor supplies up to 90 W over USB-C and supports DisplayPort Alt Mode, so picture and charging run over a single cable.

Does it work with a PlayStation or Xbox?

The monitor has two HDMI 2.1 ports and HDCP 2.2 support, which are what consoles need to connect. The manufacturer does not specify exactly which console modes are supported.

Does the monitor have speakers?

No, there are no built-in speakers. Headphones or speakers plug into the 3.5 mm output.

Can it be mounted on a VESA arm?

Yes. The stand is detachable and the mounting pattern is VESA 100 × 100 mm; without the stand the monitor weighs 4.97 kg.
