Dahua IPC-HDW5442TM-ASE-0280B-S3-B IP camera 4 MP, 2.8 mm, IR 50 m, PoE

The 2.8 mm lens covers 113° horizontally, so one camera takes in a whole sales floor, a corridor or the front of a house. The 1/1.8″ CMOS sensor delivers 4 MP at 2688 × 1520 at up to 25/30 fps, and Full HD at up to 50/60 fps for smoother fast motion. 140 dB WDR, BLC and HLC keep details visible even when a bright window or car headlights are in the frame.

Smart IR reaches up to 50 m according to Dahua and adjusts its strength so that a face close to the camera does not turn into a white blur. Starlight technology and a minimum illumination of 0.002 lux keep the picture usable under weak street lighting before the IR even switches on. A mechanical IR-cut filter switches between day and night modes, so daytime colours stay natural.

Perimeter protection lets you set tripwire and intrusion rules by object type, so alarms fire on people or vehicles rather than shadows or leaves. Face detection finds faces in the frame and saves snapshots of them. People counting tracks entries and exits separately, with up to 95% accuracy according to Dahua, and the heat map shows where visitors spend most time, which helps when planning a store layout.

The metal housing is rated IP67: it is dust-tight and survives temporary immersion in water. It operates from −40 to +60 °C and has 6 kV lightning protection, while ±30% input voltage tolerance helps where power is unstable. The camera mounts on a ceiling, and the eyeball pans 0–360° and tilts 0–78°, so it can also look along a wall. It weighs 550 g, with a diameter of 106 mm and a height of 99.2 mm.

Triple-stream H.265 and H.264 encoding plus H.265+ reduce storage and network load, and ROI lets you encode an important area at higher quality. The card slot takes microSD cards up to 256 GB. Power and data run over a single cable using standard PoE (802.3af). You can watch the stream in a web browser, in Smart PSS and DSS, and in the DMSS app on Android and iOS, with up to 20 users at a time.

Retailers that want visitor counts and walking paths on top of security; offices and apartment associations whose lobby or stairwell needs a wide view; homeowners watching a yard and driveway through cold winters; and installers building a system around a Dahua NVR or DSS who want one model that works both indoors and outdoors.
