Description

A screen with room for the drawing and the toolbars

The 16-inch FHD+ display at 1920 × 1200 has a 16:10 aspect ratio, giving more height than a standard 16:9 screen, so the toolbars of CAD and 3D applications do not eat into the drawing area. Brightness of 400 cd/m² is enough for a brightly lit office. At FHD+ the graphics card spends its power on the model rather than on extra pixels. The display is not a touchscreen.

Core Ultra 9 performance for computation and rendering

The Intel Core Ultra 9 285HX is the top tier of Intel's HX series, the most powerful class of laptop processors, designed for sustained full load. Ultra 9 pays off when much of the work leans on the processor: simulations, code compilation, CPU rendering or large data sets. The 32 GB of DDR5 memory at 6400 MHz is fitted as two 16 GB modules, which means dual-channel operation.

RTX PRO 2000: graphics for more complex 3D work

The NVIDIA RTX PRO 2000 Blackwell is a professional graphics card on the Blackwell architecture, designed for work applications rather than games. With 8 GB of GDDR7 and more graphics performance than the RTX PRO 1000, it leaves headroom for complex 3D models, BIM projects, visualisation and GPU rendering. It is a sensible middle ground: the viewport stays fluid even with large assemblies.

A 96 Wh battery for working away from the socket

The six-cell 96 Wh battery is a very large capacity for a laptop. On a machine with an HX processor and a discrete graphics card, it gives headroom for a meeting, a presentation at a client's office or a train journey without the charger. At 2.55 kg it is not light, but for a workstation of this calibre it still travels in a bag.

ID card reader and sign-in by face or fingerprint

The built-in smart card reader lets you sign documents digitally and log in to e-services with an ID card, no external reader needed. Windows can be unlocked with the fingerprint reader or with Windows Hello face recognition through the 8 MP RGB HDR + IR camera. In video calls, HDR helps when there is a bright window behind you. Wireless connectivity is Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Estonian keyboard and Windows 11 Pro

The keyboard has an Estonian layout: Õ, Ä, Ö and Ü are printed on the keys and sit where Estonian typists expect them. Backlighting keeps the keys visible in a dim room or on an evening train. Windows 11 Pro adds BitLocker drive encryption, domain join and enterprise device management.

Who this workstation is for

Engineers and 3D designers with heavy jobs for both the graphics card and the processor: the RTX PRO 2000 keeps complex models fluid in the viewport, while the Core Ultra 9 gives headroom for simulations and calculations; architects working on BIM projects in the office and on site; and companies that value ID card sign-in and Windows 11 Pro management.

Questions & answers

Which keyboard layout does it have?

The keyboard has an Estonian (EST) layout with Õ, Ä, Ö and Ü printed on the keys, and it is backlit. Other languages, such as English or Russian, are added in Windows settings.

Can I play games on it?

Yes, although the RTX PRO 2000 Blackwell is built for work rather than play. It will handle many games, but the professional line is tuned for CAD and 3D applications; if gaming is the main goal, a GeForce-based gaming laptop is the more logical choice.

Can the memory and storage be upgraded later?

The memory is two 16 GB modules (2 × 16 GB) and storage is a 1 TB SSD. The manufacturer does not specify whether the modules can be swapped or the maximum capacity; see the Dell service manual for upgrade options.

How long does the battery last?

The battery capacity is 96 Wh (6 cells). The manufacturer does not specify an official runtime in hours, as it depends heavily on whether only the processor or also the RTX PRO graphics card is under full load.
