INTENSO

Intenso MI500 internal SSD 500 GB M.2 2280 NVMe PCIe 4.0, 5300 MB/s

The Intenso MI500 is a 500 GB internal SSD in the M.2 2280 form factor, using a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface and the NVMe 1.4 protocol. Reads of up to 5300 MB/s and writes of up to 4000 MB/s speed up booting, launching programs and copying large files.

  • Capacity: 500 GB
  • Interface and form factor: M.2 2280, PCIe 4.0 x4, NVMe 1.4
  • Speed: up to 5300 MB/s read, up to 4000 MB/s write
  • Endurance: 300 TBW, MTBF 1,500,000 hours
  • Extras: 3D NAND, S.M.A.R.T. support, 6 g weight

Description

Fast when writing files, too

On many budget SSDs, writing is far slower than reading; on the MI500 the gap is smaller. With writes of up to 4000 MB/s, installing a game or saving a video file is almost as quick as opening it. S.M.A.R.T. support lets a diagnostic tool track the drive's condition, so wear can be spotted before it becomes a problem.

Who this internal SSD is for

Upgraders with a free M.2 2280 slot on the motherboard or in a laptop who want to replace a slow system drive; gamers who keep a couple of large titles next to the system; and office workers who open many large files every day. A rating of 300 TBW means 300 terabytes of data can be written to the drive over its lifetime.

Questions & answers

Will it fit my laptop?

Yes, if the laptop has an M.2 2280 slot with NVMe PCIe support. An NVMe drive will not work in a SATA-only M.2 slot, so check the slot type in the manual first.

Does it work on a PCIe 3.0 motherboard?

PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives are usually backward compatible and work in a PCIe 3.0 slot. Speed is then capped by the slot interface, and 5300 MB/s reads will not be reached.

What does an MTBF of 1,500,000 hours mean?

MTBF is the mean time between failures, calculated by the manufacturer across a large number of drives. It is a statistical measure of reliability, not the lifespan of one particular drive.
