Description

52 inches of ultrawide that fill your view

A 52-inch 21:9 screen is closer in size to a TV than to an ordinary monitor, and at a desk it fills your entire field of view. 5120 × 2160 pixels gives you the height of a 4K screen with a far wider image, so in racing, flight and strategy games you see more at the sides. For work, several full-size windows fit side by side.

240 Hz and 1 ms on a big screen

A 240 Hz refresh rate means the image updates up to 240 times per second, so fast motion stays smooth even on a diagonal this large. The 1 ms response time reduces blur on moving objects. High resolution combined with 240 Hz calls for a capable graphics card: the more frames your PC renders, the more you get out of this screen.

A VA panel with 4000:1 contrast

Contrast is the strength of a VA panel: 4000:1 means noticeably deeper blacks than a typical IPS panel, which shows on night maps and in films. Brightness of 400 cd/m² is enough for gaming in a brighter room too. 178° viewing angles keep colours consistent even when you look at the edges of the big screen from an angle. Deeper blacks also help you spot an opponent in dark corners sooner.

Connections and 90 W charging

The monitor has HDMI, DisplayPort and USB-C. A gaming PC connects via DisplayPort or HDMI, and a laptop via USB-C, which charges it at the same time with up to 90 W. That way the same screen serves for gaming in the evening and for work during the day. Built-in speakers cover everyday use; there is no wired network port on the monitor.

A big screen needs desk space

With the stand the monitor is 117.46 cm wide and 35 cm deep, and its height adjusts between 59.31 and 71.31 cm. Before setting it up, check that the desk is wide and deep enough and that the viewing distance is comfortable. Besides height, the screen tilts and swivels; there is no pivot into portrait mode. With the VESA 100 × 100 interface it can also go on an arm or a wall.

Who this gaming monitor is for

Gamers who want the biggest, most immersive picture possible at a desk without giving up 240 Hz speed; racing and flight sim fans for whom a wide 21:9 screen adds peripheral vision; and users who connect both a gaming PC and a USB-C laptop to one big screen.

Questions & answers

Is the monitor curved?

The manufacturer does not specify a screen curvature. What is known is the 52″ diagonal, 5120 × 2160 resolution and 21:9 aspect ratio.

How much power does USB-C give a laptop?

Up to 90 W over USB-C. The same cable also carries video, so a laptop needs just one wire.

Does 240 Hz work over both HDMI and DisplayPort?

The manufacturer does not specify which port is needed for 240 Hz. The exact modes are described in the LG user manual.

Does the monitor have a VESA mount?

Yes, VESA 100 × 100. For a screen this large, choose an arm designed for 52-inch displays.

Does it have built-in speakers?

Yes, speakers are built in. The manufacturer does not specify their power; for fuller sound, headphones or separate speakers are a good fit.
