MikroTik CRS310-1G-5S-4S+OUT outdoor network switch 4 × SFP+, 5 × SFP, 1 × 1G

The MikroTik CRS310-1G-5S-4S+OUT is an outdoor network switch for fibre networks: four SFP+ slots, five SFP slots and one gigabit Ethernet port. It has the same port set as the indoor CRS310-1G-5S-4S+IN, but the OUT version is designed to be installed outside.

  • SFP+ slots: 4, for 10G links over fibre or direct-attach cable
  • SFP slots: 5, for links up to 1 Gbit/s towards clients or buildings
  • Ethernet: 1 × gigabit port (1G in the model code)
  • PoE: one PoE-capable port; direction and power are not given in the supplier data
  • Version: OUT – for outdoor installation

Description

A fibre distribution point right on the mast or wall

The four SFP+ slots suit the backbone and links to other switches, while the five SFP slots serve client lines, for example to neighbouring buildings or apartments. Because the switch is made for outdoor use, the fibre does not have to be brought indoors and no separate outdoor cabinet is needed. The gigabit port is left for management or a copper device.

Who this network switch is for

An internet provider, housing association or company building a fibre network across several buildings that needs a distribution point outdoors. Modules are chosen to match the cable type and distance. If the device will stay indoors, the CRS310-1G-5S-4S+IN is the more sensible model.

Questions & answers

What is the difference between SFP and SFP+ slots?

SFP slots take modules up to 1 Gbit/s, SFP+ slots take modules up to 10 Gbit/s. So the SFP+ slots serve as backbone links and the SFP slots as client connections.

How does it differ from the CRS310-1G-5S-4S+IN?

Going by the model code, the port set is the same: 1 × 1G, 5 × SFP and 4 × SFP+. The OUT suffix marks the outdoor version, IN the indoor one.

What is the IP rating and operating temperature?

The manufacturer data we have does not include an IP rating or temperature range. The exact installation conditions are listed on MikroTik's product page.
