Description

An ultrawide that replaces two monitors

With a 21:9 aspect ratio and 5120 × 2160 pixels, the 40-inch screen fits two full-size windows side by side without the bezel that would sit in the middle of a dual-monitor setup. The 1000R curve brings the edges closer to your eyes, so the whole picture stays in your field of view despite the width. The panel shows 1.07 billion colours, covers 99% of sRGB and is factory calibrated.

One cable for the laptop and 140 W of charging

The monitor has a Thunderbolt port and a USB-C input that delivers up to 140 W to a laptop — enough for more powerful models too. The same cable carries video, network and USB data, so at the desk a laptop connects with a single wire. The manufacturer does not specify the Thunderbolt version. The power supply is built into the monitor, so there is no external adapter under the desk.

Hub, network and KVM in one chassis

The built-in USB 3.2 Gen 2 hub provides five USB-A ports and one USB-C port for a keyboard, mouse, webcam and external drives. The RJ-45 port brings wired networking even to a laptop that has no Ethernet of its own. The KVM switch lets you work on two computers with the same keyboard and mouse, and Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture show both computers at once. There are also HDMI 2.1, a DisplayPort input and a DisplayPort 1.4 output.

A picture made for both work and downtime

The 3000:1 contrast of the VA panel gives deeper blacks than a typical IPS screen, which shows in films and in evening light. Brightness is 350 cd/m², and HDR10 and HDR10+ are supported. A refresh rate of up to 144 Hz with AMD FreeSync Premium makes scrolling and games smooth. Adaptive Picture adjusts the image to ambient light, while a flicker-free backlight and Eye Saver mode go easy on your eyes.

A stand and VESA mount for a big screen

The HAS stand raises the screen by 120 mm, tilts it from −5° to 20° and swivels it ±20°. If you prefer a monitor arm, there is a VESA 100 × 100 interface on the back. The screen weighs 9 kg without the stand and 14 kg with it, and it is 928.6 mm wide, so check that your desk is wide and deep enough before setting it up. The built-in 5 W speakers are fine for video calls, and headphones plug into a separate output.

Who this monitor is for

Laptop users who want to connect a screen, charging, network and peripherals with one cable; people who run two computers at home and switch between them with the KVM; analysts and developers for whom an ultrawide replaces two monitors; and anyone who works during the day, watches films in the evening and values the deep blacks of a VA panel.

Questions & answers

How much power does the monitor give a laptop?

Up to 140 W over USB-C. How much a given laptop actually draws depends on the charging power it supports.

Can I connect two computers?

Yes. The monitor has a built-in KVM switch, so two computers share one keyboard and mouse, and Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture show two sources at the same time.

Does the monitor have a VESA mount?

Yes, VESA 100 × 100. Without the stand the screen weighs 9 kg, so choose an arm rated for that load.

Does it have built-in speakers?

Yes, the built-in speakers are rated at 5 W. There is also a headphone output.

Can two monitors be daisy-chained?

The monitor has a DisplayPort 1.4 output that passes the signal on to the next monitor. Supported configurations depend on the graphics card and are described in the Samsung manual.
