TCL 85QLED780L 85" 4K QLED Google TV Smart TV

At 85 inches, this TV fills a wall and turns films, sport and series into a shared event. The 3840 x 2160 resolution packs four times the pixels of Full HD, so the picture stays crisp even when you sit closer to such a large screen. Fine textures, small on-screen text and distant details in landscapes remain clear. This makes the set a strong fit for spacious living rooms, where a smaller screen would look lost.

The QLED panel uses quantum dot technology to produce saturated, lifelike colour. Reds, greens and blues look more intense than on a basic LED panel, which helps nature documentaries, animated films and colourful game worlds stand out. Combined with the 4K resolution, the panel delivers an image with plenty of colour depth for everyday TV, streaming and Blu-ray content alike. It suits viewers who want a vibrant picture without moving to a more specialised display type.

HDR support allows the TV to display a wider range between the brightest and darkest parts of a scene when you play HDR content. Sunlight, explosions and city lights gain more punch, while shadows keep more detail instead of turning into flat black. Many streaming services and 4K discs offer HDR titles, so you can make use of this feature with a broad library of films and series. The manufacturer does not specify which individual HDR formats are supported.

The TV runs Google TV, which gathers apps, films and series from different services into one interface. Recommendations are organised by content rather than by app, so finding something to watch takes fewer clicks. You can download popular streaming apps from the Google Play store and keep everything in one place. As a full smart TV, it lets you stream directly over your home network without an extra media box connected.

The panel works at a 60 Hz refresh rate, which handles standard broadcasts, streaming services and films smoothly. Most TV channels and movies are produced at frame rates that a 60 Hz panel displays without issue. For casual gaming on consoles the TV works well, though players who prioritise very high frame rates should note that the listed refresh rate is 60 Hz rather than a high refresh rate panel.

The flat screen and 16:9 aspect ratio match the format of modern TV broadcasts and streaming content, so most programmes fill the whole display without black bars. The black finish blends discreetly into most interiors, letting the picture take centre stage when the TV is on. Its large size suits wall mounting or a wide TV unit; check your room and furniture before choosing a screen this big.

This TV suits households with a large living room who want an immersive home cinema experience, film lovers looking for a big 4K picture, and families who stream a lot through apps. Sports fans benefit from the sheer screen size during matches. It is also a good match for anyone who prefers an all-in-one smart TV with Google TV instead of juggling separate streaming devices.
