Wi-Fi 7 and Wi-Fi 6 access points can move more than one gigabit per second over the air, so an ordinary gigabit port can hold them back. All eight ports on the SG2210XMP-M2 run at up to 2.5 Gbit/s and supply PoE+ at up to 30 W per port at the same time. One cable carries both data and power, and no socket is needed next to the access point.

When eight ports push 2.5-gigabit traffic at once, the link to the router, server or core switch has to be even faster. That is the job of the two 10G SFP+ slots, which TP-Link says deliver non-blocking performance and minimal latency. Switching capacity is 80 Gbit/s, the forwarding rate is 59.52 million packets per second and the MAC address table holds 16,000 entries.

The metal case measures just 226 × 131 × 35 mm and is cooled passively, so the switch makes no noise. It can stand on an office shelf, be fixed to a corridor wall or go into a small network cabinet where a full-size unit would not fit. The operating range is 0 to 40 °C and maximum consumption is 180.1 W, so the case needs a little free air around it.

Static routing, a DHCP server and DHCP relay let you split a smaller network into subnets without extra hardware. It supports up to 4000 802.1Q VLANs, port mirroring, STP/RSTP/MSTP and link aggregation. Security comes from IP-MAC-Port binding, port security, storm control, DHCP snooping and access control lists, and user access can be controlled through 802.1X together with a RADIUS server.

The switch integrates into the Omada SDN platform, which brings access points, switches and routers under one cloud-based management in a browser or the Omada app. Zero-Touch Provisioning lets you configure it remotely, and abnormal events trigger warnings. Without the cloud there is a web interface and a command line, both protected by SSL or SSH encryption, and status can be monitored via SNMP and RMON.

Small offices or retail spaces installing new Wi-Fi 7 or Wi-Fi 6 access points and wanting their full speed; home offices and studios where the device must be quiet and small; Omada networks managed from the cloud; and installers who need eight powered ports and a fast uplink without a server rack.
