Description

Twenty metres to the printer on one cable

A USB-B plug on the device end means the printer or scanner connects directly, with no adapter in between. The active part boosts the signal and can take auxiliary power from a phone charger with a USB-A output of at least 5 V / 1 A when needed. Two LEDs show power and device connection. No drivers are needed: Axagon lists Windows XP to 11, Windows Server 2003 to 2022, Mac OS X 10.x and Linux (kernel 2.6.x and later).

Who this USB cable is for

Warehouses, workshops and open-plan offices where a printer, scanner or plotter stands up to 20 m from the computer. The cable weighs 674 g and its compact active part fits into a cable duct. The shorter 15 m version is the ADR-215B.

Questions & answers

Can the cable be extended further?

Yes, Axagon suggests its ADR-210 USB extension cable for that. A regular passive USB cable can also be used behind the active one.

Is a power adapter included?

The box contains a 1.2 m USB-A to 3.5 mm power cable but no charger. In most cases bus power is enough and auxiliary power is not needed.

How does it differ from the ADR-215B?

In length and weight: the ADR-220B is 20 m and 674 g, the ADR-215B is 15 m and 517 g. Connectors, speed and power options are the same.
