20 TB on a single drive holds years of backups, video archives or all of a company's files. High capacity per bay means fewer drives are needed in the server for the same amount of data, leaving bays free for later expansion. Storage can then grow step by step without replacing the server straight away.
SATA is the most common hard drive interface, supported by server SATA controllers as well as SAS controllers and backplanes. 7200 RPM is the usual speed for large drives and suits continuous reading and writing in file servers and backup jobs.
