Description

Four USB devices far away over one network cable

The transmitter connects to the computer, the receiver sits next to the devices, and an ordinary network cable runs between them. Unlike the single-port Lindy 42693, this model gives you four USB ports on the receiver, so a keyboard, mouse, webcam and printer can all be placed far from the computer at once. Power travels over the cable, so no mains socket is needed at the receiver.

Who this USB extender is for

Meeting rooms and classrooms where the computer lives in a server room or far under a desk; factories and warehouses where USB devices sit tens of metres from the PC; and anyone for whom a normal USB cable is simply too short.

Questions & answers

Is the network cable included?

No, the Cat5/5e/6 cable is sold separately. For best results Lindy recommends solid core cable.

Does the receiver need its own power?

No, the power supply connects to the transmitter only and the receiver is powered over the network cable.

What is the difference between the 42681 and the 42693?

Both extend a USB 2.0 connection up to 50 m. The Lindy 42681 gives four USB ports at the far end and powers the receiver over the cable, while the 42693 has a single port.
