The Intel Celeron N5095 is a quad-core processor with a 2.0 GHz base clock and bursts up to 2.9 GHz. It supports Intel VT-x and VT-d virtualisation and AES-NI encryption, which protects data without slowing the system down. Virtualization Station runs Windows and Linux virtual machines, Container Station handles Docker, LXD and Kata containers, and Linux Station gives you a Linux desktop. The 8 GB of memory can grow to 16 GB.
The two M.2 2280 PCIe Gen 3 slots take NVMe SSDs that can serve as a cache, as a separate SSD storage pool or as part of Qtier auto-tiering. Alternatively you can fit a Google Edge TPU, which speeds up face and object recognition in QuMagie photo albums. Image recognition also benefits from the Intel OpenVINO AI engine built into the processor.
Intel UHD Graphics supports hardware video decoding and real-time transcoding. The HDMI output drives a display at up to 4K: connect a TV or monitor and you can watch stored films and photos without a computer, or show a virtual machine desktop directly on the screen. That lets the TS-664 double as a simple workstation.
The two 2.5GbE ports work over existing CAT5e cabling and reach up to 5 Gbit/s when trunked. No. The NAS ships without drives: the six bays take 2.5″ and 3.5″ SATA HDDs and SSDs, and the M.2 slots take 2280 NVMe SSDs. A power cable and a LAN cable are in the box.
