The TP-Link TL-SG116P is a 16-port gigabit unmanaged network switch whose every port is PoE+, powering IP cameras, access points and IP phones from a 120 W total budget. It needs no configuration, and its special modes are turned on with a switch.

Description

Modes that make surveillance simpler

In Extend mode data and power travel up to 250 metres, so a camera can go further than the end of a standard 100-metre cable run. Priority mode gives ports 1–4 first claim on power so the most important devices stay online. Isolation mode separates client traffic at the press of a switch, and PoE Auto Recovery reboots a camera or access point by itself when it stops responding.

How many cameras can it power?

All 16 ports are PoE+, with up to 30 W per port and a 120 W total budget. If each camera draws around 7 W, all 16 can be powered at once; with higher-power devices the 120 W limit has to be kept in mind.

Is this a managed switch?

No, it is a plug-and-play switch with no web interface. Even so, Isolation mode separates client traffic and Priority mode puts ports 1–4 first.

Can it be mounted on a wall?

Yes, the metal housing can sit on a desk or mount on a wall. It measures 286 × 111.7 × 25.4 mm.
