Description

Extra power when devices need more

Normally the hub draws power straight from the computer's USB port, so no separate charger is needed. If you connect an external drive or another power-hungry device, you can give the hub auxiliary power through its USB-C DC 5 V input. Devices can be plugged in and out while the computer is running, there are no drivers to hunt for, and an LED shows that the hub is powered.

Who this USB hub is for

Owners of thin laptops that only have USB-C ports but still carry a USB-A flash drive, mouse or external drive; travellers who do not want to pack a full docking station; and anyone who needs a couple of extra ports on the desk without a long cable.

Questions & answers

Does the hub charge my laptop?

The manufacturer does not specify laptop pass-through charging (USB PD). The USB-C DC 5 V input is meant as auxiliary power for the hub itself and the devices connected to it.

How fast are the ports?

All four ports, both USB-A and both USB-C, run at up to 5 Gbps. That is enough for an external SSD, a flash drive or a card reader.

Does the hub need its own power supply?

For a mouse, keyboard or flash drive the computer's USB port supplies enough power. Auxiliary power via USB-C DC 5 V is only needed when the connected devices draw more current.
