Description

A small switch that keeps a camera system simple

Each camera gets both power and data over one network cable, so no socket is needed next to the camera. The two uplink ports let you connect a recorder and a router at the same time. PoE watchdog monitors the ports and restarts a camera that has stopped responding on its own, without anyone having to go on site.

Questions & answers

How many cameras can the 36 W budget power?

All four PoE ports can be used at once if the cameras draw no more than 36 W together, about 9 W per camera on average. A single port delivers up to 30 W, so one higher-power camera is also supported.

Is it suitable for a computer network?

The ports run at 10/100 Mbit/s, so the switch is meant for cameras and other low-traffic devices rather than fast file transfers between computers.

What does PoE watchdog do?

It monitors the devices on the PoE ports and cycles the power of a camera that has frozen. The connection comes back without a manual restart.
