Description

Two terabytes on a single cable

The drive is powered through the included USB cable, so there is no separate power supply or socket to deal with. 2 TB holds a large family archive of photos and videos. On a USB 3.0 port it reads at up to 85 MB/s and writes at up to 75 MB/s, enough to back up an entire home folder in an evening and play films straight from the drive.

Who this external hard drive is for

Families who want a copy of their photos and videos kept apart from the computer; laptop owners whose internal drive is filling up; and anyone moving files between a Windows PC and a Mac. If 1 TB is not enough, the same housing gives twice the space.

Questions & answers

Does the drive need separate power?

No. It runs on power from the included USB cable, so no separate adapter is needed.

Does the drive work with a Mac?

Yes, the manufacturer lists compatibility with Mac OS 10.x and Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10. The FAT32 file system can be read and written on both.

Why can I not copy a file larger than 4 GB?

The drive comes formatted as FAT32, which does not allow single files over 4 GB. The fix is to reformat it to exFAT or NTFS; move your data elsewhere first, because formatting erases it.
