Description

A 5 TB archive that fits in a pocket

At 118.3 × 85.3 × 20.4 mm and 0.3 kg the drive is smaller than many notebooks, yet it holds an entire family photo archive and many hours of video. LaCie Toolkit software runs a backup with one click or on an automatic schedule, or mirrors folders across several devices. Up to 130 MB/s suits backups and archiving rather than editing video straight from the drive.

Who this external hard drive is for

Photographers and video hobbyists whose archive no longer fits on the computer's drive; families who want backups of all their devices in one place; and travellers who need a lot of space in a small metal housing.

Questions & answers

Is it as fast as an external SSD?

No. Inside is a 2.5″ hard drive with speeds of up to 130 MB/s. An SSD is faster, while a hard drive gives more capacity for backups and archiving.

Can I use the drive with a Mac and an iPad?

Yes, according to the manufacturer it connects directly to a Mac, a Windows PC and a USB-C iPad, and it is also compatible with USB4 and Thunderbolt 4 ports.

Which cable is included?

The box contains a USB-C cable. Connecting to a computer with a USB-A port needs a separate cable or adapter.
