A passive USB 2.0 cable cannot be very long because the signal fades. Inside the 42782 sits an active repeater module that refreshes the signal, so USB 2.0 High Speed at up to 480 Mbit/s is kept over the full 12 metres. The device's own cable may be up to 2 m long. Yes, within the Lindy Active Extension System Pro: the whole line can be up to 60 m with no more than four repeater modules. The 8 m and 12 m cables have one module, the 30 m cable has two. The hub must always be the last segment.
The cable follows the USB 2.0 standard, so a USB 3.0 device is also limited to USB 2.0 speed, up to 480 Mbit/s.
The device's existing USB cable plugs into the female end of the extension and may be up to 2 m long.
