The MikroTik netPower 16P (CRS318-16P-2S+OUT) is an outdoor network switch with 16 Gigabit ports with PoE out and two SFP+ cages for 10G fibre uplinks. Its compact housing mounts on masts, poles, in shafts or in damp attics.

Description

The power supply sets the PoE voltage

The switch has no onboard voltage converter, so the ports pass on the same voltage that comes from the power source. With a 24 V power supply devices get 24 V PoE; with a 48 V unit they get standard IEEE 802.3af/at power. The manufacturer names the MikroTik 24HPOW, 48POW and 48V2A96W as compatible, and a battery pack can be used too. Non-blocking throughput is 36 Gbit/s.

Who this network switch is for

Wireless internet providers building a mast node with several access points and an uplink, and installers powering IP cameras in a yard, warehouse or farm. The −40 to 70 °C operating range lets it run in unheated spaces and outdoors.

Is a power supply included?

According to the manufacturer description, no. The MikroTik 24HPOW, 48POW and 48V2A96W are compatible, as is another 18–57 V source; the supply voltage sets the PoE output voltage.

How many cameras or access points can it power?

All 16 ports have PoE out. The manufacturer does not state a total PoE budget in watts; maximum switch consumption is 316 W, and the real capacity depends on the power supply used.

How is it mounted?

The housing is built for outdoor use: according to the manufacturer it can be fixed to a mast or pole with hose clamps, or placed in a shaft or attic. This model has no rack mounting.
