Two NVMe SSDs no longer need two separate enclosures and two free ports: both drives sit in a single 0.24 kg enclosure that connects through one USB-C port. USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 is twice as fast as USB 3.2 Gen 2 at 10 Gbps, but full speed requires a computer port that also supports Gen 2x2.
