Wi-Fi 7 uses channels up to 320 MHz wide on the 6 GHz band together with 4K-QAM modulation, doubling bandwidth and packing more data into the air. Multi-Link Operation (MLO) lets a device send and receive across several bands at once, which raises throughput, cuts latency and makes the link more reliable. Total speed is 9214 Mbit/s: 5760 Mbit/s on 6 GHz, 2880 Mbit/s on 5 GHz and 574 Mbit/s on 2.4 GHz.
Each unit has four 2.5 Gbit/s ports, up to 2.5 times the speed of a standard gigabit port. A fast fibre line, NAS, gaming PC and smart TV can all have a multi-gigabit wired connection. Every unit also carries a USB 3.0 port. Across the three units that adds up to twelve 2.5-gigabit ports.
The Deco BE65 can run a wired and a wireless backhaul with each unit simultaneously, and MLO raises their combined throughput. If your floors are linked with network cable, traffic between the units travels over it at 2.5 Gbit/s; without a cable, Wi-Fi 7 carries the link. The AI-driven mesh moves devices to the fastest unit under one network name.
The system works as both a VPN client and a VPN server, supporting OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP/IPSec connections, and the VPN and regular internet can run side by side. Smart home devices can get their own Wi-Fi network with WPA3 encryption, so IoT gadgets do not share a network with computers and phones. A guest network can be set up on all three bands.
TP-Link HomeShield provides network protection and real-time IoT security. Parental controls include custom profiles, bedtime, off time, family time, time rewards, pausing the internet, a professional content filter library, SafeSearch, YouTube restriction and weekly and monthly reports. The Deco app shows every device, and the network can be controlled by voice through Alexa or Google Assistant.
