The TP-Link Omada EAP620 HD is a ceiling or wall mounted Wi-Fi 6 access point for busy spaces. Across two bands it delivers up to 1775 Mbit/s combined, OFDMA and MU-MIMO help it serve many devices at once, and it is powered over PoE+.

Description

Many devices at once without congestion

Wi-Fi 6 OFDMA and uplink and downlink MU-MIMO share the connection among many devices; the manufacturer says capacity in dense environments rises up to four times compared with Wi-Fi 5. 802.11k/v roaming moves a client to the access point with the strongest signal as it moves, so a video call does not drop.

Who this access point is for

Offices, schools, hotels and retail floors where one room holds many phones and laptops; and businesses building a single managed network from Omada access points, switches and gateways. Guests can be given a secure separate network with SMS, Facebook or voucher login.

Questions & answers

What power does the access point need?

A PoE+ (802.3at) switch or injector; both active and passive PoE are supported. There is also a 12 V DC jack.

Does the connection drop when moving between access points?

It should not. 802.11k/v roaming hands the device over smoothly to the next access point, and mesh lets some points connect without a cable.

How many users can it serve?

The manufacturer data lists 1020 users. The real number depends on traffic and devices.
