Description

2K view of your doorstep with no wiring

At 2304 × 1296 pixels the image is sharper than standard Full HD, so a visitor's face or a parcel left at the door stays clear in the recording too. The short 2.4 mm lens gives a wide view that also takes in part of the steps. Because power comes from the 5200 mAh battery, the doorbell can be mounted where there is no electrical wiring at all.

Who this video doorbell is for

Owners of a house, townhouse or flat who want to see who is at the door; tenants and landlords who cannot run a cable to the entrance; and anyone who prefers to keep recordings on their own microSD card. The IP54 housing handles splashes and dust, so the doorbell can go on the wall beside the door or under a porch roof.

Questions & answers

Does the doorbell need a power cable?

No. The Tapo D205 runs on its built-in 5200 mAh battery, so no wire is needed. How long one charge lasts, the manufacturer does not specify.

Where are recordings stored?

The doorbell has a microSD slot that takes cards up to 512 GB. Video is saved in the widely supported H.264 format.

Can it handle rain?

The housing is rated IP54: protected against dust and water splashes from any direction. A spot under a porch roof is better than one exposed to heavy downpours.
