Ubiquiti UniFi USW-Pro-24-PoE switch 24 × 1G PoE+/PoE++, 400 W, 2 × SFP+

Every one of the 24 ports supplies PoE: 16 ports PoE+ to the IEEE 802.3af and 802.3at standards and 8 ports PoE++ (4PPoE), which delivers power over all four cable pairs. The maximum per port is 64 W, so the PoE++ ports can also run more demanding devices that standard PoE+ cannot power. The total PoE budget is 400 W, which averages more than 16 W per device with all 24 ports in use.

The two SFP+ slots run at 10 Gbit/s and are meant for links to the router, a core switch or a server using an optical module or direct-attach cable. That way the combined traffic of the 24 gigabit ports is not squeezed through a single gigabit link. A switching capacity of 88 Gbit/s and a forwarding rate of 65.472 million packets per second cover the full speed of every port and both SFP+ slots at once in both directions.

The switch supports static routing, so traffic between subnets does not always have to pass through the router. Up to 1000 VLANs can be created, DHCP features include a server, relay and snooping, and IGMP snooping keeps multicast traffic in check. QoS, rate limiting and broadcast storm control keep the network stable, while 802.1X and RADIUS admit only authenticated devices. Link aggregation, port mirroring and a system event log round out the feature set.

The built-in power supply runs on 100–240 V AC, and maximum consumption including the PoE load is 450 W. The switch supports a redundant power system: if the power supply fails, a UniFi SmartPower RPS takes over automatically, and one RPS unit can support up to six devices until the failed one is replaced. That matters when security cameras and access points draw their power from the switch.

The front panel has a 1.3-inch touchscreen showing switch status and helping with quick troubleshooting right at the cabinet. LEDs show port activity, link, PoE, speed and system status. According to the manufacturer, the second-generation airflow design reduces the need for the fan, so the switch runs almost silently. The operating range is −5 to 40 °C.

Offices and companies that power Wi-Fi access points, cameras and IP phones from one cabinet, with some devices needing PoE++ power; UniFi network owners who want Layer 3 features and a 10G link to the core; and sites where security cameras must stay powered even if the switch power supply fails.
