Does a docking station charge the laptop? Most USB-C docks do — make sure the dock's output (e.g. 65–100 W) covers your laptop's needs.

Why don't some USB-C cables work with a monitor? Some cables are built for charging only and carry no video signal — for a monitor, pick a cable with DP Alt Mode / Thunderbolt support.
