The recorder takes video from up to 16 cameras, enough for a house and its grounds or for a small business, warehouse or retail space. Cameras and recorder sit on the same local network, connected through the RJ-45 port. The housing measures just 212 × 212 × 64 mm and weighs 0.782 kg, so it fits in a network cabinet or on a shelf.

The HDMI output connects the recorder directly to a monitor or TV, so camera views can be watched on site without a computer, for example at a security desk, in an office or in a home utility room. Two USB 2.0 ports are provided for connecting additional devices. The black housing stays unobtrusive in an office or home.

The recorder has one drive bay for the hard drive that stores the video. The manufacturer does not list a maximum drive capacity, so choose the size based on the number of cameras, their resolution and how many days of footage you want to keep. For surveillance, a drive rated for round-the-clock operation is the sensible choice.

In the box you get a SmartBracket mounting panel, power cable, Ethernet cable, installation kit and quick start guide. The SmartBracket holds the recorder securely in place, and the installation kit provides what you need to fix it. The operating range is 0 to +40 °C, so the recorder is meant for a heated indoor space.
