Eight PoE+ ports mean no separate adapter for each camera: one RJ45 cable carries both video and power. Installation is quicker, you need no power socket next to the camera, and all cameras are powered from one place. New VIGI cameras are added automatically via Plug and Play and activated straight away.

The HDMI output supports 4K, decoding capacity reaches 16 MP, and camera images can be up to 8 MP. You can show all eight cameras on one monitor at once and enlarge a single view when you need detail. A VGA output is there for an older monitor. A multi-camera view is handy at a reception or guard desk where video is watched all day.

H.265+ compresses video more efficiently, so the same drive holds longer recordings and the network carries less load. According to the manufacturer, the recorder stores up to 10 TB of footage and records around the clock. During playback you can review all eight cameras at the same time, speed up replay and find events in the video schedule.

You can watch and manage the recorder through the VIGI app, the web interface and VIGI Security Manager, whether at home or travelling. Audio in and out enable two-way voice: while watching live video you can talk to someone at the camera. ONVIF support lets you add IP cameras from other brands as well.

The compact chassis can sit in a rack, on a desk or under it. The box contains a power adapter, HDD screws, a mouse and a quick installation guide. The manufacturer lists an operating range of −10 to 55 °C, so the recorder also suits a cooler utility room. It weighs only 0.578 kg and measures 294 × 180 × 44 mm, so it fits in a small network cabinet too.

Home and holiday-house owners who want to connect up to eight cameras with one cable each; small stores, cafés and offices without a dedicated IT team; and installers working with VIGI cameras who value fast Plug and Play setup. It also suits an existing system that already uses ONVIF cameras.
