Epson EB-994F 3LCD projector Full HD, 4100 ANSI lumens, Wi-Fi

The EB-994F uses 3LCD technology: light is split into the three primary colours, and each has its own LCD panel. Colours are produced simultaneously rather than in sequence, so there is no rainbow effect typical of single-chip projectors, and white and colour brightness stay in balance. Charts and logos in presentations keep natural tones.

A resolution of 1920 × 1080 in 16:9 matches ordinary video and a laptop Full HD output, so the image is not rescaled and small text in tables stays sharp. That matters when you show spreadsheets, drawings or web pages rather than only slides with large headings. Rated contrast is 16,000:1.

At 4100 ANSI lumens the image stays readable with the ceiling lights on while people take notes. You do not have to darken the room every time, although direct sunlight on the screen reduces contrast on any projector. A larger image spreads the same light over a bigger area, so the brightness headroom pays off there.

The throw ratio of 1.30–2.09:1 tells you how far back the projector goes for a given image width: width is roughly the distance divided by the ratio. The range means the same image size can be reached from different distances, which makes it easier to fit an existing ceiling mount or table position. From three metres the image is about 1.4–2.3 m wide.

Built-in Wi-Fi supports 802.11a/b/g/n/ac, so the projector joins a wireless network without a separate adapter. That is handy in rooms where the projector is on the ceiling and running a cable to every laptop would be awkward. Epson does not list the wired inputs in this data, so check the connectors you need before installation.

The EB-994F suits meeting rooms, classrooms and training rooms that show a lot of detailed content and do not want to darken the room every time. Full HD and Wi-Fi work for a fixed installation as well as for moving between rooms, and 4.59 kg is still reasonable to carry. If you mainly need a large picture from a very short distance, look at short-throw models instead.
